Introducing....

I would like to introduce you to the newest 4 legged member of our family, Daisy Mae. We adopted her from our local animal control a few weeks ago. She is a small hound beagle mix. She was picked up as a stray and had recently had puppies. She's around 1 or 2 years old, is now spayed, and a real sweetie. She's settling into our home very nicely.

Halloween Fun

Our little angel wanted to pick out her own Halloween costume this year. I showed her dozens of cute fairies, princesses, little pumpkins, and bumble bees. What sweet little character did my daughter decide was right for her? A witch. I tried to talk her into something else, but to no avail. So 4 stores later I finally found a toddler size witch costume. To add insult to injury, when her father saw the costume, he said "Oh, just like her mother". Go figure.

As you can see, she turned out to be a pretty cute little witch. Trick or Treating this year was a blast. Kristina finally understood what all the fuss was about. And she was ready to hit the streets. We made it about twice the distance of last year's outing and hit all the cul-de-sacs. She had a huge bag of loot by the time we made it home. Of course her parents had to "inspect" the candy which included testing a few random samples!

Neighborhood Fall Fest

Today we went to our neighborhood Fall fest which is put on annually by our civic league and is one of the few opportunities we get to meet and spend time with our neighbors. It started with the costume parade led by the local fire department. Then they held a chili cook off, which the firefighters judged. There were plenty of games and activities for children of all ages. Kristina's favorites were the sack races and pony rides. I have TONS of pictures of this even due to the fact that we had 2 grandmothers in tow. I jokingly nicknamed them the "Grandma Paparazzi". We all had a really great time, and I can hardly wait for next year's fest.

Happy 3rd Birthday Kristina!

Today my baby girl is 3 years old. She is beautiful, smart, healthy, and happy. I couldn't ask for anything more. As I always do, I said a silent prayer for her birth family who is probably thinking of her today. We threw her a very small party this year with just a few family and close friends on hand. As usual, the birthday song and cake was her favorite part!

Last Wishes

Today I honored my father's final request by scattering his ashes in the Chesapeake Bay. It was a beautiful day and as we were leaving 2 fighter jets from Langley Air Force Base flew over the exact spot where my Daddy was laid to rest. I'm sure this made him very happy.

Pickin' Pumpkins!

I decided that Kristina needed to see where pumpkins come from......and not a parking lot. We found one local patch that lets you pick your own right out of the field. We also enjoyed some face painting and a horse drawn hayride. Needless to say....our little pumpkin had a ball!
